Album Review: Pop Pistol - Disappearing Edges (@poppistol)

San Antonio based Electro-Rock group, Pop Pistol, released their new EP, Disappearing Edges, and the title is oddly and brilliantly on point.
The overall feeling of the EP is soothing and aquatic. The vocals are mixed in such a way that they actually blend in with the music, making it seem like an additional element to the songs, instead of being the focal point. There are no harsh, staccato beats; the swell of the cymbals and softness of the drum beats lull you into a state of relaxation, even when the beat is heavy and intense. Disappearing Edges has an almost dark wave quality to it that draws you in before you notice you’re gone.
“Center of Asleep” has a slight Placebo sound to it, with it’s background mimicked heartbeat and almost jazzy presentation giving off a dream like and ethereal ambiance. My personal favorite, however, is the last track, “Who Needs Forever”. It would be the perfect theme song to a current James Bond movie; It has that darkness and mystery required for a Bond theme, as well as the slight 60s throwback, while still being completely modern.
Pop Pistol’s Disappearing Edges can be bought on Bandcamp for only $5. Make sure you get this; it’s beautiful and breathtaking, and will leave you in a stunning stasis of euphoria.
